Animation.

After graduating from college, I quickly found a passion for motion graphics and animation to simplify complex topics. Animation is a great way to visualize abstract concepts and bring technology and ideas to life. Below are some of the featured and award-winning projects I have directed and been a part of.

Shutterstock API

For this video, my goal was to visualize the customer experience that the Shutterstock API would bring to the target audience. The approach was to use a “ball” as the throughline of video, leading the viewer from scene to scene. The goal was to show the disconnect by having the ball "jump" through different hoops, while with Shutterstock, the experience is seamless and all in one place.

The visual style for this was to create a clean look by using flat vector design mixed with simplified graphical representation of UIs. The goal was to create visuals that are easily understandable for the viewer while creating an entertaining story.

SAGA Innovation

Students in high-need urban communities have a higher discrepancy in their skill level in math. As students start falling behind, they lose confidence and fall even more. As this affects their grade, they quickly start believing that they are not good at school and that college is not an option for their life.

The goal of this video was to create a 90-second brand awareness video explaining SAGA Innovation while also displaying the impact it has on the student's life, their future, and the community.

The story uses the power of video, from the visuals to the audio, to create an immersive experience where the viewer gets to feel how a middle school student feels. By using metaphors and analogies, we were able to produce creative scenarios that help explain and link feelings with a viewer.

The story was also told from the perspective of a high school student to make it authentic and emotional, following their journey and showing the impact on their mindset and confidence, pushing them to achieve higher academic performance in their lives.

Killam Prize

Canada Council for the Arts approached Simple Story to produce a video to showcase how the Killam Program funds its work and to encourage people to apply for the Killam Prize.

The concept for this project was to create awareness by using real experiences of past winners. The client had footage of past winners and I wanted to leverage these interviews to drive a meaningful story that reaches the audience on a personal level. The goal was to make the viewer feel they could be nominated for the award and to connect with them using first-hand experience.

dotHealth

The goal of the video was to help healthcare industry professionals come to the realization that their .com (or other domain extensions) are not the best option to grow their business. By positioning .health as the thought leader and educator, we can bring a new reality into their minds and create an underlying sense of urgency with the inclusivity factor: dotHealth is where your medical company’s website belongs.

Pharmaspectra Signal

The concept of this video will be focused on the target audience’s reach to access the data they require. We showed that before Signal, they could only scratch the surface of the data, collecting old and limited information about their drugs, and they are trying to piece everything together is like making a puzzle with most pieces missing. They are aware that there is more information available, but accessing, analyzing, and finding what they need would take too much time.

The video leads through a quick journey of how a report is produced, with not just the different benefits it provides to the target audience, but to the company as a whole. They are able to take proactive actions, stay compliant with the FDA, and keep the safety of their customers.

CHEO

This video was produced to help raise funds for the CHEO Foundation. The strategy was to create a strong human approach by telling the story from the perspective of a child cancer patient. This helped create a more emotional story that also explains the work that CHEO does, from research to patient care.

The visual style was also created to be artistic and hand-drawn to match the child's perspective of the story.

Landlord

LandLord is a full-service property management company in Toronto. For this video, the goal was to create an emotional tie to the Landlord brand and focus on the "why" they exist. People are now looking to connect with brands for what they stand for, what their values are, and why they do what they do.

To tell a more authentic story that showcases Landlord's human-centric service philosophy, we decided to tell it from the perspective of a LandLord client, explaining what their experiences were like using LandLord. This approach helped make viewers feel more at ease as it comes off as a friend explaining a service to their friend.
